About BanglaScot Foundation BanglaScot Foundation is an international, non-profit arts, culture and community development agency. Created from dialogue starting in 2003, the foundation was established in 2005. It exists as twin foundations, one based in Dhaka, Bangladesh and the other in Edinburgh, Scotland. BanglaScot is working in arts and culture for social change and international understanding. We place artistic endeavour at the heart of change. Our programme aims to support democratic processes and support freedom of expression. It is important that communities have opportunities to explore ideas and constructively engage in dialogue. We aim to offer such new opportunities. Arts and culture are often seen as marginal. We show that arts and culture can and do make a real difference. We connect with groups and individuals working in areas such as social justice, development, anti-poverty, the environment, education and human rights. To their efforts we add value by helping to strengthen local cultures, providing new ways of expressing views and adding some magic to peoples lives. |
